Getting back into the swing of things?
For many of us September doesn't just mean back-to-school for the kids, it also means readjusting to a routine.
This may come with a whole host of different challenges. You might find yourself conflicted between being ready to leave behind summer laziness, but unready to dive into full work-mode.
Here are some things to keep in mind during this transition:
- Make a list of all the things you want to incorporate in your routine, prioritize them, and then roll them out slowly. For example, adding in a gym routine to your schedule could come in your 3rd or 4th week back!
- You might feel like you want to take on too much, too quick! But try to avoid taking on everything all at once. It's okay to maintain boundaries, and move at your own pace.
- Set time to make a schedule, even for the small stuff!
- It's great to have a plan, and high expectations; however, anticipate that everything may not be perfect right away.
- Give yourself some time for things that you enjoy, whether that's me-time, social activities, or maybe even planning a trip.
- Don’t compare your current self to your past self. Your past self didn’t have to put on a face mask and wash their hands four times just to get a cheeseburger!
- Focus on your lifestyle, you’re not just back-to-work. You are also back to life. Don’t forget your hobbies, your sports, your eating habits.
- Set goals for this final quarter of the year. How do you want to close out 2020?
