10 signs you are on the right track

The simplistic idea of what’s right and wrong in life is debatable. I mean of course there are clear-cut standards of what is viewed as such, but for most life-based experiences, it’s tricky to detect the right route sometimes. That’s why this piece is offering a small window of opportunity in hopes of learning a bit about one of those encounters. Let’s take for example the infamous conversation about whether we’re on “the right track?” and begin deciphering the signs that illustrate the question best.

But again, how can we really define “the right track”? and why do we keep using quote on quotes when referring to it? Well, that’s because when you hopefully get to read this piece, you can start thinking about how it’s all about your own life’s journey and how it solely depends on the experiences and steps you’ve taken to reach where you’re at now. Hence, the word “right” depends on how you define it. It depends on what you’ve been through, what you’ve overcame, and how you’re dealing with it now. It depends on the ability to move forward. It depends on feeling satisfied and fulfilled with your journey. It depends on living not just existing.

Ever resonated with the phrase “everything happens for a reason”? It might be true. Even for the seemingly wrong turns your path took, something bigger must’ve been in store. We’re here to assure you that your track most definitely if not surely is unique and personally planned to suit you best. So, for starters let’s try not to compare the definition nor meaning of our own track with others that might seem to have it all together (we know it isn’t easy). But try to think about how we only know what people want us to know. The fact is we all have lots of highs and lows since the beginning of time. We all have personal tailored lives that for us, makes sense and should mean a lot! So how about we try to focus on our own track and detect the signs that make it the right one.

Common signs you might be on the right track

To show and assure you that you are indeed on the right track (even if it doesn’t feel like it), here are a whopping 10 signs to reflect on.

  1. Letting it go! (Choose wisely)

Whether it’s adjusting poor habits, letting go of negative people, or quitting a job you hate, you’re making strides and effort to do something that will eventually keep you moving forward in your life’s journey. Noticing situations that yield to your discomfort and aren’t bringing you joy anymore and then deciding on taking action towards it is a clear sign you’re on the right track! Just remember that it’s a learning process to be able to let go of the right things in your life.

  1. Worthy Sacrifices (New Goals)

When you do learn to let go of the right things, you automatically create clear new goals after tweaking the ones that are no longer give value to your life. You learn what goals are worth sacrificing and what are worth keeping and perusing. You even might begin to effortlessly use SMART goals when choosing new ones to replace the old.

  1. Working ... on yourself.

When you’ve let go of the bad and readjusted your goals, it’s clear to infer that you do want to do better. You’re working on yourself! (that’s not easy). The simplistic idea- that isn’t that simple- about trying to become the best version you can be (to become self-actualized) is a step towards the right direction. Loving yourself enough to put in the effort is something I genuinely with for everyone.

  1. Problems arise? Strategize!

And even when you’re working on yourself and improving, know that problems still can surface. The key here is to be able to detect the problem and deal with it efficiently; you begin to strategize. You grow with each and every obstacle faced, so upon the arrival of an unexpected (and unwanted) occurrence, try to logically look at the problem with open arms. You don’t fear it, but instead you face it and figure out what lesson came out of solving it. Actively perusing life hurdles is indeed a step towards the right track.

  1. When mistakes hold you back, you push harder.

We all make mistakes. It’s bound to happen. What differs is the way we react and handle the hold back. Yes, we can still think about and react to them, but remember that there’s a thin line between dwelling/holding a grudge and accepting/working on them. As challenging as it is, choosing the second option, it’s is a sign you’re heading in the correct path! Acknowledge that mistakes are bound to happen, and decide to learn from them instead of letting them take control and hold you back. Take this quote for instance: “A step backward, after making a wrong turn, is a step in the right direction.”

  1. Questioning you, life.

When you are willing to ask questions, say no, step back, and assess rather than accept everything as it- what does this mean? It means you care enough about your life’s journey and moving forward with it that you begin to challenge its situations. If you were let’s say moving backwards, you would not care enough to question what life hands you. Think about that. About how much you do care and take it as a sign. Sometimes questioning situations is a sign of growth and care.

  1. All hail the glimmers.

There will be moments when you see glimpses of the life you have been working towards. And oh, the feeling will be out of this world, filled with hope and possibility. When you experience these moments, believe it, it’s not a fluke. Look at it as a sign of motivation and encouragement to keep grinding because you’re heading in the right direction. Take in those glimmers of optimism.

  1. Giving Back.

You don’t have to be involved in a charity or organization that allows you to give back. The mere idea of giving back could be thanking, helping, listening, or even brightening up someone’s life. This not only allows you to take a step back from your own life but also grants you one of the signs that you are on the right track by getting involved with others around you. Remember it’s a never-ending fruitful cycle of giving and receiving.

  1. Jeepers creepers: the past

And oh, the past has its way on creeping in when no one’s looking. It can hold you back, so when you feel that you’ve reached the point where you can leave it behind and live in the present moment, then you will feel like this heavy weight has been lifted of your shoulders. You can start focusing on the now moment. You start to reduce the “what if” and “if only” questions from your life equation because you start to dwell less on them. Move forward knowing that you have done your best and will continue striving to do so.

  1. Are you happy?

I believe you are on the right track when you feel giddy and speechless about moments in your life that just seem unbelievable. It may take a while for these instances to happen, but oh when they do, enjoy every ounce of them. If the larger percentage of your life makes you happy then you are on the right track. But don’t get me wrong, if you feel that, that number is less than 50%, you can always work on it by trying to find the source that’s weighing you down. It’s a long hard road but you’ll get there.

Life is tricky. It doesn’t always show up outside our door with an encouraging sign that shows us the direction we’re heading in; however, it does offer us signs that we are heading in the right one. It encourages us, reminds us, and reinvigorates us as we continue in its path. Things take time, so don’t be so hard on yourself and know that even the simplest things that may seem “normal” to you, can end up being a huge sign that’s you’re on the right track. Your own, personalized, tailored, unique track.
